Welcome to Judy's Village Newsletter!

I hope the start of this year hasn't brought you the mean bugs of late winter, but if it has, you're in good company!
If you get laryngitis, do be patient with the healing process. Your voice will come back much quicker if you don't re-injure tender tissue. It's never fun to cancel a performance, but sometimes the wisest thing to do.

Preston James got TWO standing ovations for his debut 1/2 hour show at the venerable Nashville Ryman Auditorium! You'd think this 17 year old kid was a veteran, the way he and his band took the house. John and I were sitting on the benches beaming.

More about him: OK it's a secret... but I'll have more news to share about him next month...

Jenny Tolman was just named one of the top-10 unsigned artists at Wide Open Country. She got a standing ovation after blowing the crowd away (including John and I) full band at her release party. Her new single “Something to Complain About”  premiered on The Boot, has great reviews from UK as well as Robert K Oermann.

More about her:
Jenny is growing her considerable Spotify following with a contest on her Facebook page.

Bryan White has released a new single: 'I Surrender'.

More about him:
One of this Grammy winning artist's songs "God Gave Me You" resurfaced as a smash hit in the Philippines last year after being chosen as theme song for a popular variety show. One fan-made Youtube video of the song has over 47 million views! A star since he was a kid, Bryan keeps doing it again!

I have 2 more students mentioned in Rolling Stone Magazine: Jenna McDaniel and Jordan Mallory. Performing as part of the Nashville-based songwriter collective “Song Suffragettes” they sang on a track for which all benefits go towards Times Up- an organization and legal defense fund started by women in entertainment to end sexual harassment, assault, and abuse. Read the article and see their video here.

More about them:: Jenna and Mallory have individually done a lot of work exploring and honing their own unique voices. Here's a recent Jenna song. Here's a recent Mallory song.

Gabby Wesley competed with her song “Leap of Faith” in the 'Music For a Cause' songwriting competition to benefit those affected by bleeding disorders. Check out her song here.

More about her:
Gabby moved to Nashville after graduating from Baylor University.  Christian pop/rock singer/songwriter, she's a wiz at business, computers and blazing her own trail!

I did vocal production with a team headed by producer Jason Wyatt, engineer Elliot Didur, for Oregon's country artist Briana Renea. Now in mix mode, the roughs I'm hearing are great!

I love this montage she sent me of our sessions. Good times!

Right before Christmas I performed "What Child Is This" with stellar musicians - drummer John Rodman, bassist Randy Moore, guitarist Melissa Dubuy and cellist Paul Nelson - in our beautiful 2nd Presbyterian sanctuary. I could get spoiled... their baby grand responds to my fingers like no electric keyboard can!
