...and welcome to my new vocal students of March/April:
News From Judy's Clients:
Skylar Cain wins! Competing with hundreds of singers from 4 to 20 yrs old, my little vocal student won $1500.00 for herself,
$500 for her school (Highland Elementary) and $500 for her music teacher (Randy
Lanham and High Hopes Music) along with lots of other things at the "Aspire to Stardom
Talent Competition" at the River and Spires Festival in Clarksville, TN! . Congratulations, you go girl!
Kacey Musgraves has crossed over to the big tent. The New York Times did a 4 - count 'em - 4 page article on her. She's opening for Kenny Chesney.
She is a brilliant, unique songwriter, a beautiful soul and an
incredible performer. Congratulations, Kacey... you have SO earned
what's happening for you!
Bryan White
has endorsed the PCG Institute program and is working with some of
their artists. I like that this video shows snippets of his career. He
is not only doing his own new material now, he is producing, working
with and writing for others.
Billy Devereaux is an A.S.E. master mechanic and a rock singer/songwriter with a 4 octave range.
Billy has just launched his "Singing Mechanic" website. It's for do-it-yourself car enthusiasts who need expert diagnostic repair and procedure information. It's also a place to find his music.
A brilliant double career that actually goes together quite well!
Dakota Bradley's label Streamsound Records released his first single "Somethin Like Somethin" this April to radio. He was discovered by Ellen Degeneres after posting a YouTube video, and is co-produced by Tim McGraw and Byron Gallimore.
As you can imagine, he is burning up the skyways on a publicity tour,
which is by all accounts going very, very well! Expect this artist to
break out big. Oh, he's a sweetheart, too:)
Sam and Luke (a really stunning young brother duo) recently collaborated with a female singer (Danielle Lowe) for a video cover of Thompson Square's "If I Didn't Have You"... well done, all!
Sam and Luke at Bunganut Pig Music Festival, Franklin, Tn
Tyler Secrest performed at the Southern Women's Conference This April, after a vocal lesson the day before...

Jordyn Pepper shot a cool worktape video in my office... a cover song that sounds like it was really written for her: Muckalee Creek fits this extreme sports girl like a glove!
Kaley Caperton is a spokesperson for the National Guard Youth Foundation, which supports a second chance program for drop outs . "Red, White and Beautiful"
was written by Kaley and 2 other writers from Nashville (Dave Robbins
of Blackhawk and Billy Austin). The majority of the profits for this
video and song will go to the foundation. If she gets enough views, CMT
will put the video up on CMT TV and will help the cause.

Judy's News:
Studio work:
I produced Jenny Tolman's recording
project... it just turned out incredibly! The players AND Jenny really
captured magic. Can't wait to hear some feedback on this one!
Me and Nathan Smith at Mainframe Jenny at the mic
back: Nathan, Brian Fullen, Chris Leuzinger, Robby Turner
front: Dow Tomlin, me, Jenny, Catherine Styron and Kerry Marx
I also produced another couple of songs at Brewbeat Studio for the amazing teen duo "Flyte Three".
We'll be finishing up the vocals soon at Mainframe. The buzz on the
project we've been working on the last few months has created some very
interesting possibilities for them!.
Performance:
I played Tin Pan South this
year with Jerry Foster, Lionel Cartwright, Becky Hobbs and my husband
John on djembe. It was great to play together and to reconnect about old
times!
With three keyboards onstage, John opted to play on the side!
Always a blast to sing on each other's songs
Songwriting:
I wrote with my dear friend Wynne Adams for a production client of hers. Can't wait to hear it recorded!
Seminars, presentations, workshops:
I gave a vocal workshop in Nashville at the beautiful Oceanway Studio for about 50 visiting Elk Grove High School students.
