Country singer Angela Martinez has released a very cool single to CD Baby and iTunes. Here is her video of "Best Fight".

Salem Jones and her rock band One Soul Thrust received a terrific review for their album "No One Knows" in the rock/metal mag "My Global Mind".  Read the review here (scroll down the page, it's review #10.)

Grammy nominated producer, keyboardist, songwriter, arranger, singer and live performer Roger Ryan has released a fantastic new Christmas CD "A Time For Hope". (I just bought it) Part of the proceeds will benefit children of Haiti. This is a win-win... a very worthy cause and a perennial for Christmas listening!

Popular Norwegian singer Arne Benoni recently got the thrill of a lifetime by singing posthumously with the great Jim Reeves on a new rendition of the song "I Know One," released on a new 2-CD set called "Jim Reeves: The New Recording."  (Congrats, Arne!)

Sophie Hanneken has her new website online ... and her CD project is released and up on CD Baby! YAY!! Very proud of this young artist.

Alternative singer/songwriter Ali Sperry has released her long awaited CD "Storybook". I was her vocal producer on the project and was so sad to miss her album release party (I had another session) at Nashville club "The Basement". She plans on promoting with lots of shows this year. I plan on seeing one!

Kelsey Klingensmith has released her album "Blue Jean Girl" produced by Jimmy Nichols (congrats!) There's a very cool video on her website of her song "Country Mess" Another video they are releasing was taken by her mom during the first rundown in the studio of the vocal on "The One". It was so good they ended up using it as the final! When you know how some secrets of singing in the studio, you can create magic pretty quickly, but on a first rundown is rare. Congrats, Kelsey!

Judy's News:

Studio work:

I had the pleasure of producing vocals with veteran producer Bob Bullock in his "Dream Room" studio for artist Madison McKenzie. I also sang background vocals on it with my friend Thom Flora.

Madi and me high 5 in Bob's Dream Room

Me, Madison McKenzie and Bob Bullock

FYI... Bob came to Nashville from LA has a discography of legendary work. He is cited in the book "The Making of Rumours" with being part of a tech team that saved that Fleetwood Mac album. Thom has reams of discography, too, even working with Quincy Jones.

Veteran performance coach Diane Kimbrough and I double-teamed singer/songwriter/recording artist Maria Sarah to prepare and assist her on a video for her haunting, powerful song 'Broken Dreams". Her recording producer is the amazing Roger Ryan, with whom I produced her vocals. The video is almost ready for the public... she is hoping it makes a difference in the world. From what I saw and heard, it will!

I got to sing with another great singer-friend, John Wesley Ryles, doing bgv's for producer/engineer Adrian Payne.

I produced vocals on teen artist Taffy Schneider for her ongoing project out at Steve Sturm's studio. We train by Skype vocal lessons weekly and her dedication is really paying off in final vocal results!

My husband John Rodman and I did final tweaks with Mainframe's Nathan Smith on the first song we wrote for our band, "When The Day Is Over". This is the live version of the song we're giving to people who sign up at our website

I produced vocals on teen artist Taffy Schneider for her ongoing project out at Steve Sturm's studio. We train by Skype vocal lessons weekly and her dedication is really paying off in final vocal results! FYI, Steve used to play for Travis Tritt.

Performance:

I performed with Jerry Foster and Friends again, this time with Jerry and with Karen Wheeler and Joe Rucker.

Debi Champion invited me to be part of a multi-songwriter benefit at the Commodore Grill. Among the performers in my round was the sweet, always unpredictable and entertaining Marc Alan Barnette.

Songwriting:

I wrote another killer song for our band with my husband John. In preparation for our next co-write, we're now listening to the new Joe Walsh record, so watch out:)

Jordyn Pepper and I co-wrote a cool, earthy/haunting song. I know it's good when I can't get the worktape out of my car :)

Seminars, workshops:

I was invited by the new Nashville chapter head Alayna another Indie Connect presentation, this one at Corky's BBQ in Brentwood. The subject of my speech was 'Vocal Health'.  Check this organization out if you're in need of music business strategy, information and networking.
