After giving a great showcase performance in Nashville, Lyndsey Highlander took her powerhouse performance on the road opening for Travis Tritt. Word has it that she was a smashing success... even made a great impression on Tritt himself! Congratulations, Lyndsey! (Just the beginning:)

Lyndsey the power generator knew how to rock the crowd while still protecting her precious vocal cords. She called me for a vocal warmup by cellphone before she did her first show. And notice how her lower ribcage is open even in this forward pose. GO GIRL!

Kelsey Klingensmith has launched a serious Kickstarter Campaign to try and finance the project she has been waiting so long to do. She is planning to have the amazing Jimmy Nichols produce her tracks and then to have me produce her vocals. She has a ton of great songs; check out her Kickstarter page and see if you might want to help her out.

Carolyn Bikel has mastered another art in addition to her singing... she creates customized handpainted eggs, and now finally has her website up. I highly recommend her artwork...in fact many of you got her eggs from me for Christmas. Their uniqueness and beauty make them great gifts!

Little Skylar Cain won her age division and People's Choice award for her age group at the Kentucky Opry Talent Search. Video of Skylar's performance here. Congratulation!!

Emil's second single from his current project I produced has great chart activity..."Since You Left" written by Greg Gonzales"Since You Left" written by Greg Gonzales  #3 on MMW's Indie Top 40, #5 on Hot AC Indie, #19 on Top 40 Main and is listed as a Top 40 Prime Mover. And the rocket's still moving!

Billy Devereaux did a show at Jack's Tavern backed by a band that included members of the famed rock group Tesla. Wow, fantastic, little brother- congratulations!!!

Jeannie ("Miss Jeannie") Slusarek's current single got to top 10 on the Spin Tracking System's main country chart and #3 on the indie chart! It's a song I co-wrote "Cloud Of Dust". Lonnie Spiker produced, I did vocal production ... and we have several other songs on her project. She's the real deal as far as traditional country music. YAY!

My production client Ben Wasson's single "I Get The Blues When It Rains" is #15 on the STS charts... congrats to you, Ben!

Out of 2,500 entries, 6th grader Jackson Capps was chosen as one of the 78 to appear on the Shotgun Red Variety Show on RFD TV. Congratulations! Proud of and for you!

Flyte Three (duo of Merideth and Claire McNair) are doing a fun video-a-week campaign on YouTube. They are now working with Pam Lewis and PLA Media. They are playing Ri'chards Cafe on St. Patrick's Day, and are involved in publicizing the "Don't Text And Drive" effort in memory of Alex Brown.

Judy's News:

Studio work:

I produced Tanya Sue Powell's lead and background vocals at Mainframe Studio and she finally has finished her project! YAY GIRL!

Ron Oates and I finished up the demo to our co-written song at Bill Hullett's studio and then The Parlor. How much fun can I have?!!

I did vocal production for Chaz McKinney at The Parlor Studio. I had the pleasure of working with his incredible producer Rogers Masson for the first time... wow. I am so happy for Chaz that his new sound is finally online; he definitely outgrew his old website. For 16 years old, this kid is an entity already.

My dear friend Michael Stergis called me to do some vocal production and background vocals on a wonderful new client he's producing. We did it in Michael McDonald's studio in Franklin.. beautiful place to make music.

I produced vocals for new duo "Flyte Three" at Mainframe Studio. They sound just fantastic and Nathan Smith did a great mix for us!

Songwriting:

My co-writers for Feb/March included finishing up some songs with Tiffany Haseker and Leslie Ellis.

Seminars, workshops:

I was invited by Eric Normand to give a presentation at last month's Nashville Berklee Jam. I shared information about vocal careers and then got to assess performances of some amazing young Berklee alumni who are wisely pursuing ongoing professional training and networking. Oh and I got to sing a couple songs with Eric's band... It was a blast...

  • Eric Normand gave a great review about the event , included videos here.
  •  Shantell Ogden blogged about the event as well here.

I taught an all-day seminar "Pro Voice Training for Studio and Stage" in Nashville, hosted by Indie Connect. I had all types of singers and speakers there and it went very well, with everyone happy they could do things they didn't think possible. Which of course made my day:)
